Surrounded by mountains, this snowy place is perfect for a breathtaking experience.
After our snow motorcycle ride, we will go to another Winter Center. There we will eat a delicious lamb in the Patagonian style. With energies restored, we continue to a third and beautiful winter center, where we will walk with snowshoes and do some butt skiing. The snowshoe hike is held in one of the beautiful Patagonian forests, with its rare beauty, surrounded by native trees and the Andes mountain range.
We are going to have to play with the snow and have fun with our butt skiing boards. For sure moments full of laughs and fun! In the end, we will stop at the winter center’s restaurant. DAY 3 – USHUAIA:
After breakfast we board on the boat in the touristic port of the Beagle Channel through Paso Chico. The channel is divided in the middle between Argentina and Chile by an imaginary line. Then, we navigate in argentine waters, but we can also see the mountains and islands of the Chilean side.
When the navigation starts, we can see the “Ushuaia Bay” and how beautifully surrounded by mountains and glaciers the city is. A precious and historic view of Ushuaia. We can imagine how europeans saw the area when the first boats arrived with its fire points, where the natives were warming themselves.
On the way we pass by the Bird Island where we see several marine birds from Tierra del Fuego like skuas, albatross, seagulls and cauquenese ducks.
We arrive at the famous See Lions Island, where we will see two different types of sea lions (1 fur and 2 furs). We see them swimming or simply sunbathing with cormorants (birds that look like penguins in the distance).
Navigating a little further we arrive at Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. Next to the lighthouse we see more colonies of cormorants, the imperial ones and also rockers. Throughout the tour we hear from the guide a bit of a local history and explanations about the animals and islands that we are seeing. We return along the Argentine coast, where we see Playa Larga and the port.
• Port fee ($20 pesos).
•Items of the cafeteria.
At 5 p.m. we leave the hotel, taking the Route 3 still with day light. On the way we enjoy a wonderful landscape, always close to the Andean mountain range. In the belvedere of the Carbajal Valley, we stop so you can contemplate a beautiful view of the valley and take memorable pictures.
Then we go towards Paso Garibaldi Belvedere, the highest point of Route 3, where we have an amazing view of the lakes Escondido and Fagnano. After this stop, we proceed to the farm with an exciting off road ride on the way. We pass through forest and lakes until we arrive at the Fagnano Lake during a thrilling ride that takes around 45 minutes.
By the Lake Fagnano, surrounded by typical Tierra del Fuego’s forest, we are received by the farm family with a bonfire and wine or coffee to warm us and we can eat some appetizers.
Once in this magic place, we sit around the bonfire to talk and share good stories in a relaxed environment. While we talk, a delicious argentine barbecue is served for us. At 10:30 p.m. we prepare ourselves to go back to the hotel.
DAY 4 – USHUAIA:
We leave the hotel, after breakfast, towards Tierra del Fuego National Park, the most southern park on the planet and the only one in Argentina where you can see mountain, lake and sea.
Together with us goes an experienced guide who will explain the history during our route.
The first stop takes place just before the park entrance at the End of the World train station. At that moment, those who want to take the train ride can purchase the ticket and take the tour (duration: at about 50 minutes). On board you will hear the history of this train that took prisoners from Ushuaia prison to the slope of Mount Susana, in addition to enjoying the scenery (check the ratings with us).
Those who do not want to take the train ride will also enjoy the moment and can take photos of the charming station and the train, and listen to the history of the train told by our guide.
At the end of the train ride, everyone get together again and we continue to our next stop: "Lapataia Bay". In it we see a section of the Beagle Channel surrounded by beautiful forests and we have what is effectively considered the "End of the World", because it is where the road reaches the southernmost of the world: the end of Route 3.
We have time to walk and take beautiful pictures on the catwalks of the belvedere in this area. Then we proceed to the Roca Lake, almost on the border with Chile. We will do a short trail and we will know more about the vegetation and fauna of Tierra del Fuego province.
Before returning, we pass by the Alakush Visitor Center where we can see the museum of the ancient indigenous people of the island and we can sit and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Cerro Condor and the Lapataia River.
